Highest Ratings for all CHS Bands at LGPE!

Posted on Updated on

Each year we band directors have a large task known as Large Group Performance Evaluation or LGPE, and it is quite an undertaking. This is the one time in the year that we have the opportunity to have a “graded” performance for our concert ensembles. The grading scale is from 1 to 5 and to pull off the highest score of “1” is a real challenge.  I’m proud to say that each ensemble in our school earned that superior rating!

Some schools elect to take only one ensemble, and some take two, and some take all. I feel at Chattahoochee every student deserves the opportunity for this experience so we take them all. This year I was blown away at the work ethic that was displayed by the students as we prepared for this event.

In the 11 years that I have conducted the Chattahoochee program, this was by far the toughest, musically. The students deserved the challenge and have grown to this level of performance. We have a lot to be proud of this year with all the programs and these superior performances are a representation of what these students can do. I promise you that this is an exception and not the norm for music education in our country. Superior ratings have been earned by many bands, but to play the level of music that our students did and execute it this well, should be greatly celebrated.

Thank you, students, for your diligent efforts and perseverance. The journey was tough at times, but you reached the top and you should be proud.
